DIRECTIONS TO THE SAND: Weis Park is located off of 25th Street NW – Entrances off of Harvard Ave NW (between 25th & 30th Streets) and from 25th Street beside the branch library.
RULES:
- The team captain will be the main contact person for each team. Each team should consist of no less than 6 people on a team, with a cap at 10. At least 50% of players on the court must be female.
- A coin toss will be used for choice of serve or receive. After the 1st game, the losing team has choice. Each match will consist of 3 games. Each game will be played with rally scoring to 21 with a ceiling score of 23. You must win by 2 points unless you reach the ceiling score, where first team to 23 wins. Teams will change courts after each game. There will be 3 timeouts per match.
- You may serve anywhere along the back service line. A serve may be dropped once and can only be returned with a pass or set. A serve that touches the net is a playable ball. Double hits are permitted on any first ball coming across the net.
- There will be 2 refs per match that will be supplied from other teams. One ref to keep score, the other to call the match.
- NO spiking the ball with both hands in the front row. NO “power dinks” or open handed dinks or tips. NO blocking or attacking the serve.
- NO profanity, excessive arguing of calls or fighting. Only the team captain and player involved will be allowed to discuss a play with the referee.
- NO glass bottles, food in the court area or smoking. Please pick up after yourself and your team.
