Food for Thought is an annual food drive competition between businesses to collect the most items needed for the Stark County Hunger Task Force’s Backpack for Kids Program. The food drive fosters community and thrives on the generosity of people. The Backpack for Kids Program allows elementary aged students, who participate in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), from various school districts across Stark County to receive a bag filled with four meals and two snacks over weekends. The program currently feed over 1,000 children each week. The food drive will be hosted from August 20th, 2018 to September 21st, 2018. Food items in high demand, but not limited to, for the Backpack for Kids Program are listed: instant oatmeal, individual boxed cereal, juice boxes, microwave meals, and granola bars. Donation items must be individually packaged and non-perishable. All proceeds donated go directly to the Backpack for Kids Program. Non-perishable donations can be delivered to the Stark County Hunger Task Force, located at the Ken Weber Community Campus at Goodwill at 408 9th St. SW, Canton, OH 44707 or arrangements can be made for pick-up by contacting the Stark County Hunger Task Force prior.
