The past year has been an especially hard one for a lot of folks in our community. Many, like Yvonne, found themselves in need of a little help.

“I have a large household to feed. I have people in my house that have fallen on hard times since COVID and have lost jobs. I am grateful the pantry is here when my family needs it.”

Women like Yvonne carry the families of our community through tough times. But no one can do it alone. With your help, we can continue to be there when our neighbors need a little extra support.

As the number of individuals and households seeking food assistance continues to rise, the importance of the local, charitable response is more critical than ever. But in order to adequately meet the demand food assistance, and those of our growing food pantry network, we need your help.

In 2020 the Stark County Hunger Task Force pantry network provided critical and compassionate food assistance to 34,000 each month. The number of Stark County’s hungry continues to rise as our community continues to feel the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

For those in this community who are hungry and unsure of what to do, Stark County Hunger Task Force’s pantry network is a lifeline in their time of crisis. Whether that crisis is temporary or extended, they turn to our food pantries and programs for a basic need that is deceptively simple: a free, 3-5 day food supply to help carry them through.

HUNGER LIVES HERE. — hunger means hard choices and catch twenty-twos; choosing between food and other basic needs like utilities, housing, and medical care, not to mention some things such as transportation and an education. For those whose lives don’t depend on routinely performing such a financial juggling act, it can be difficult to imagine those choices.

From April-June our Hunger at Home campaign will raise awareness on how hunger affects families and individuals in our community, focusing on personal stories to illustrate the scope of hunger in Stark County. SCHTF will be holding several events and engagement opportunities during this campaign, culminating with their annual Fairway to Fight Hunger golf outing. Text HUNGER21 to 44-321 to donate.
